Pure Reason Revolution – Coming up to Consciousness

I will be having a lot of ‘firsts’ on the LiveProg channel, as many bands that I never got to feature, release new albums. Like Pure Reason Revolution! They have a brand new album out, Coming up to Consciousness.

When PRR released their debut album, The Dark Third, I instantly loved it. I saw the band support Porcupine Tree and loved the energy they brought on stage. But truth be told, the next two albums did not really connect with me. And in 2010 PRR disbanded. As that was when I started LiveProg, I never featured them.

In 2020 the band got back together, but as I was out of the prog world, I missed that. But a few months ago, I came across Eupnea, their return album, in my favourite record store an ddecided to buy it. That was when I reconnected with PRR. From there everything went fast: I learned they were brnging a new album out and so I quickly got a copy of the previous album Above Cirrus.

Interestingly both Eupnea and Above Cirrus connected very well with me! At one point I called Eupnea my favourite PRR album! But the came Coming up to Consciousness…
