Interview: Bantar – Dutch instrumental post-rock

A while ago a facebook friend recommended the band Bantar to me. I was not familiar with them, but decided to check them out.And I liked what I heard. The three founding members used to be in the band Semistereo. When that band ended (or went on indefinite hiatus, as they said), the three remaining members decided to pursue the thing they always wanted in music: make instrumental music.

That became Bantar and they moved in the way of the post-rock genre, which suited them well. They released their debut album, This Heat is Exhausting at the end of 2024. Eight instrumental songs that are very atmospheric, heavy, sometimes even cinematic. In my opinion the songwriting is good, as I enjoyed the album from start to finish, never had a moment that I lost my attention.

Along the way they found a bass player to join them, so they are at full force, ready to take their music to the stage.
