Sir Arjen Lucassen talks about 30 years of Ayreon and his new solo album

About 25 years ago,just before the release of the Universal Migrator albums (The Dream Sequencer and The Flight of the Migrator), I got the opportunity to become the webmaster of Ayreon.com. I knew two albums, The Final Experiment and Into the Electric Castle, both albums I loved. For three years I had the opportunity to work with Arjen Lucassen, to run the website, but also run the fan club as well as the webstore.

In the years I did this, i interviewed several artists for the website. When I left Ayreon.com, I started doing reviews and interviews along the way. But for some reason I never interviewed Arjen. Until july 23, 2025….

I wanted to do an interview with Arjen for a long time, especially because of the 30th anniversary of Ayreon. When the news dropped about his new solo album, Songs No One Will Hear, I wanted that even more. But I had to go through the label’s channels for this. Fortunately I managed to get an hour to talk to Arjen, or Sir Arjen, as he was knighted by the Dutch king earlier in 2025. And the label was kind enough to send me the digital version of the new solo album.
