LiveProg is taking a break
You might have noticed that it has been more than a month since the ;ast video was posted on the LiveProg YouTube channel. I have also deactivated the LiveProg Facebook and Instagram pages. I will try to explain here why that is.
Back in late 2023, I posted a new video on the LiveProg YouTube channel, after some 9 years. The main reason was, that I got stuck on the channel I was running for over 8 years (a Dutch language channel about comic books. You can have a look here if you are curious.). I felt really nice to do a video on prog again, as I had been pretty much out of touch with prog music for…well…9 years!
And I got some nice reactions, got back in touch with som epeople and that was really great. It still took a few months, but the prog fire started to burn again and I decided to revive LiveProg. And for two years I posted album review, ranking video’s, livestreams, interviews and some random prog related vlogs.
I did feel however, that doing reviews was not giving me the pleasure I hoped to get. In fact, it was a bit of a struggle. I tried to move to just doing interviews, which was really nice. I absolutely loved doing these interviews, talking with musicians about their passion.
But for some reason, I found myself struggling again. So I started to slow down, take some reast. Then I received some albums, for review. Albums I absolutely love and think are really awesome! But also music that not always fit my mood. So I neede to find the time to listen to them. This also became a bit of a struggle.
And then it hit me….
If I am honest to myself, I love to listen to music way more than I love to make video’s about the music.
Maybe the time I have been away ws too long and most people forgot about LiveProg, which is understandable. Ever since I left so many other YouTube channels emerged, that focussed on prog and have gained a massive following. So that’s why I decided at the end of 2025, that I would once again stop with LiveProg. Although this time not by just disappearing, but with an explenation.
If it will be permamnent, I don’t know. If I come across something that I think is worth to be shared, I might post a new video on the channel. If I have an opportunity to speak with a band or artist, that I think deserves to be heard, I might post that interview. So it is a goodbye, not a farewell. I have my love for prog back and that will remain! And I will definitely be going to concerts. But in the forseeable future there will not be any new video’s on the LiveProg YouTube channel.
