Interview: Roine Stolt

The Flower Kings are a household name in the prog world. I 1994 Roine Stolt released his fourth(!) solo album, which he called The Flower King. That became the blueprint for the band The Flower Kings. 30 years and 16 studio albums so far. Album number 17 is under way and will be released in May 2025.

Earlier this year, The Flower Kings performed at the Midwinter Prog Festival in the Netherlands. Sadly I could not be there to see them (and do an interview with them!), so I met with Roine digitally, via Zoom, to have chat about the new album and everything around it, the way Roine writes his songs and what developments he has soon in his 50 years as a profession artist.

Construction Records will re-release Roine’s fifth solo album, Hydrophonia, on vinyl. Roine has been involved with this re-release and shares a funny story about baking tapes!
