Interview: Oliver Philipps (Everon)

“I didn’t know anyone wanted one!” – Oliver Philipps on why it took 16 years for a new album to arrive. After the release of North in 2008. the band went on hiatus and everyone went their seperate ways. Christian Moos, Moschus, was busy with his SpaceLabs Studio and Oliver Philipps became busy with producing other bands. So Everon faded to the background.

Then, late 2023, out of the blue a brand new Everon song dropped, No Embrace. Which was really unexpected, because earlier in 2023, the news had reached Everon fans that drummer Moschus had passed away. So new Everon music was the least anyone expected. Yet it happened and not just a song, but a new album was announced, Shells. To be released on february 28, 2025.

Already when the new song was released I suggested Oliver Philipps we do another interview, as we did one back in september 2011. And that actually happened. This time via Zoom, but we had an amazing chat. And he talks about everything related to te new album, of course how it happened, but also on the passing of Moschus. And I asked him the question, I was a bit afraid to ask…is there a future for Everon…
