Prog from Nashville: Gentry Blue
It happens a lot these days, that bands and musicians find their way to LiveProg! Several musicians reached out to me and that often resulted in an interview or podcast. This also applies to Gentry Blue, a prog, or rather, art-rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. The vocalist of the band had a connection with both Joe Deninzon and Jason Gianni, with whom I did interviews, and so she reached out to me.
Fortunately I was not only curious to a prog band from Nashvile, but I also really enjoyed the music they made! So we connected on Zoom and had a really nice chat about everything Gentry Blue. What it was like to be a prog band in Nashville…well, that is mainly the reaosn why they dropped the prog and went with art-rock, which is understandable.
But we also talked about the existential dread, which the band uses to describe their music. And how the band evolved from a collage band to a band that is working on their second album. It was a really interesting conversation, with two young musicians, that were inspired by the likes of Rush and Porcupine Tree, but created their own sound. A band highly recommend!
